Beginning ceramics is designed for the student who is interested in learning to create with clay. The curriculum includes various hand building techniques, use of the potter’s wheel, ceramic sculpture, glazing, an introduction to the history of ceramics, and contemporary uses of clay.
Students interested in Advanced Ceramics are able to concentrate on wheel throwing or sculpture techniques. There is an emphasis on visual problem solving and creative growth as students are allowed more time on individual projects.
